The long walk out.

Jalan Lekar

I hadn’t felt so happy in the longest time. It was just after a shoot at Jalan Lekar in Chua Chu Kang, where a wildlife rescue centre was being constructed. Some 100 students from various schools were painting a grand mural on it and the air was hot and humid.

I needed to get down to Scotts Road for another shoot at Song of India, but no taxis were in the area. So I walked. And walked. And I didn’t stop. The road was straight down and so quiet. Other than the occasional car that passed by, the birds were my only companions. Even they weren’t too imposing.

I had a burst of childhood nostalgia that got me smiling and laughing and probably looking like an utter idiot. The grass was so green and the sky so blue, I could almost smell Groix. My only regret was not having my ipod to sing along to. But the memories of long solitary walks on the island were so strong that I swear the scent of the sea breeze wafted pass my nose.

I wish everyday was like yesterday.

In other news, I think I saw love. At Home Club, two butches were cradling each other and staring into one another’s eyes. Granted, it is rather strange to see two boyish girls giggle and kiss, it was such a tender moment. Too private for the unknown intrusion of many watchful eyes.
