Break time!

Alrighty party people, I’ve been busy and am still busy so posting will resume proper in a week’s time.

In the meantime, please remember to brush your teeth before going to bed.

Piss off.

FUCKING WASTE OF MY TIME.

This wasn’t supposed to be an angsty angry blog, but seriously, the mood I’m in right now is just that.
Fuck la cheebye. Am I a bitch? Am I? Am I being one?

Or am I just expecting too much from people?

Am I?

Non, rien de rien. Non je ne regrette rien.

Lived a beautiful life, a friend I couldn't deny.

Had a really packed day today… four shoots, meeting with Esplanade for Baybeats photography and then jamming at Fourtones. I’m so tired because I slept at 2 am last night trying to finish Harry Potter. Muahahahaha I did, I did! Wow, what an ending. An ending to end all endings. I was right, I was right, wasn’t I?

So, if you guys haven’t already heard, I recently joined the band Deputy Siren. We’ll be playing at Baybeats on the 4th of August at 7:30pm, Nokia Arena (in the park). However, I’d like to please ask everyone to pray for us, because the NDP rehearsal that day might push us back to Sunday at 5pm and that would totally suck balls. It would be very very mucho great if we could keep out slot on Saturday. So please pray hard everyone!

We’ve been working really hard to get everything perfect, which is especially not easy coming together at such a late stage. So please come watch us, we promise a great show! I’ll update if there are any changes in the schedule. Just thought I’d let you guys know :) :):)

Alrighty, will update again tomorrow or something. Gonna hit the sack now, so damn tired!

But you are what you love and not what loves you back.

Beat! this week just didn’t do it for me. Too packed, too many people from MOS and Zouk there. Didn’t have the heart to go around snapping party people pictures, so I just headed home around 2am to read and put a hydrating mask on. I was also going through a bout of self-pity about my weight, my face, my talent-less self. I deserved to be slapped for that.

I want to read Harry Potter!!! I’m getting so jealous looking through the pictures of people queueing up and reading the books on the wires. I’ll head down to Borders tomorrow and pick up my reserved copy! I just can’t wait anymore, the excitement is too much to bear! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Apparently some girl in the Philippines killed herself after reading a fake spoiler of the last book, where Harry and his friends met a gruesome death. She then hanged herself in her room using bedsheets. How terrible! It’s crazy how people are so fanatical about some things that they’d do these kinds of things.

In lighter news, tonight will be spent juggling myself across two places on the same island- Sentosa. First up is Xander’s gathering at Amara Sanctuary, then Dar’s friend’s birthday celebration at Rasa Sentosa. I’m gonna put on my cute yellow dress from Zara (last season though, I’m not afraid to admit that I picked it up from the bargain bin). I just don’t want to sleep too late because I want to go out to get some pictures for the heartland project.

Booking the night transport home is so confusing. The submit button is hidden somewhere elusive, where are youuuuuuuuuuuu. There you are, you little bugger! I love the night transport home, I’m always the first and it’s so darn fast. The drivers speed like there’s no tomorrow, haha!

So the next two days are off, I’ll have time for the heartland pictures, jamming and recording. Also to get my bi-weekly log done, which has been a real bitch to do because Microsoft Word has been refusing to work for me at home and at the office. It refuses to open or to be edited.

Packing up now, heading home!

Is this what love is?

Look up and into your future, boy.

Been some time since I’d updated, so I thought I’d do a quick one before I go to sleep.

Cone and I caught Harry Potter yesterday, it was great! I think I like this one the best. I found that it was timed nicely and the effects were good. Acting was alright, made it an enjoyable flick. I do think that Hermione and Ron are going to get together! I’m so sure of it! Well, I hope so at least… The next book’s out in less than a week, have you pre-ordered your copy yet? I have!

I’m tired so I’m gonna sleep now. Bye!

Edit: Shit I’d typed a whole other paragraph this morning and my stupid browser decided that it’d do me a favour by closing on me without me asking it to. How nice of it! Asshat.

Anyways, I’m heading out to Potong Pasir this afternoon to get pictures of the heartland. A little bird told me that since it was the opposition’s terrain, chances are that it would be relatively untouched. So I’m expecting old school playgrounds, coffee shops, barber shops and the like. Now if I could only get off my ass to take a shower and get out of the house because I have a jamming session at 6 pm. I should also stop blog hopping in order to do this, but you can’t blame me, it’s so addictive!

Gosh darnit, freaking pins and needles in my left leg! This is no laughing matter!

I just wish I had someone to accompany today because I’d be lonely. On the other hand, it might do me some good to have some alone time. Think about life and other cliched topics. Quick! I need to shower in 3 minutes, dammit mind please just follow suit and stop being a selfish bitch!

I’ve been thinking about getting myself another tattoo. Watching how Miami Ink makes it look so cool doesn’t help one bit. One day I’m gonna come home and tell Mom, “Hey look I got another tattoo.” If you guys don’t hear from me, it’s probably because she killed me.

I want my Crispy Chocolate Tarte from The Chocolate Factory.

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about couples inducing birth just so the children would have 07-07-07 as their birthday. Sounds slightly morbid to me. Haha, if that’s even the right word. Well, as long as the procedure isn’t harmful to the baby or the mother, I guess there shouldn’t be a problem.

It’s also funny how babies come out all orangey. And are able to sleep through the whole commotion.

Caught Winterhalter yesterday at Home Club yesterday, much agreed throughout that that set was the best set in a long time. Their birthday themed repertoire was so funny, especially with Darren from Skye In Euphoria wearing a pink wig, randomly popping party poppers, honking air horns, breaking off a Barbie doll’s leg, screaming like a banshee and ending it off with a blast of confetti. Bloody good shit la, can we have more please? Kthx.

Lying on the floor now and my bum is getting numb. Typing with a laptop on your lap and your head propped up by your camera bag is not too comfortable. I will add more as the night continues for my flow of thought is somewhat truncated.

Let’s have naked girls, don’t you think?

Something really good...

The sorethroat is finally almost gone! Just in time for today’s jamming session with Deputy Siren! Fantastic! Exclamation mark galore!!! Still a little hoarse but nothing a lozenges won’t help with.

Hm, my week is quite packed. Friday is Megan’s farewell bash that I want to go to, but can’t stay for too long cause there’s work the next day. Dinner sometime this week with Bang, and work from tomorrow all the way till Sunday. Man, that means missing Beat! this week though. Jamming again on Sunday. Off Monday. It’s a busy week ahead.

Inch is over to watch DVDs with me. We haven’t hung out in too long. We’re watching Mrs Henderson, finally. Cone refuses to watch it with me, haha. Judi Dench is always a delight to watch. And old-school musicals just have that sparkle that seems to be lacking these days… On that note, I totally missed Phantom of the Opera earlier this year, I wonder if they’re any other musicals coming to town soon? I also want to catch Dim Sum Dollies. I still remember when they first started at the Esplanade, in a the small recital theatre. It was hilarious, especially when Pam Ooi dressed up as Mother Theresa and sang “Climb Every Mountain” by Bonnie Tyler, while pretending to climb a cardboard mountain.

I was craving for some chicken briyani earlier, I just couldn’t resist. Well, nothing much to say today, so I shan’t force it out. Have a good day everyone! Take care all.

Poisoning our world, that’s what we’re best at.

Barbers are a man's best friend.

I sound like a man, but everyone else has convinced me that it’s sexy. My sexy man-voice is the result of trying to hit very high notes during a jam session two days ago. With a cough and a blocked nose. Oh dear.

It’s quite calming sitting in the office on a quiet Sunday morning with a little The Pipettes on the side. No one else is in other than desker and me. I quite like it this way. Since my shoot’s at 4, I think I’ll head out to the Toa Payoh heartland and explore the area. Or watch the world go by in a coffeeshop, sipping my ice Horlicks. You’ll know where to find me.

The smoking ban finally kicked in last Monday, so this week’s Beat! was different, but in a good way. One of my major peeves has always been having the stench of cigarette smoke in my hair and clothes after a session of Beat! so this is a good change. Takes a bit of getting used to, but definitely a good change. Now I need to re-learn how to have fun without drinking. Somehow everything is much funnier when one is slightly happy.

Judith from the health desk just came over to my desk and we had a good chat. One thing that popped up in our conversation was the elderly workforce. Recently, I shot some elderly workers at their workplaces. These workers are mostly 70 years old and above. The thing that strikes you is how young they look. Most of them could pass off as late fifties instead, that’s about 20 years off their real age! They all look happy, and it really comes through. Retirement at 60s isn’t a must, and working keeps them fit and rejuvinated. I find it all very amazing. The zing and passion they have for their scope of work is infectious. Not to mentiom the expertise. Just because they’re older, doesn’t mean that they’re any less capable of doing a good job!

Oh yes, BooksActually is putting up an exhibition called Species of Polaroids and other pieces.

The Random Room (The Substation),
12pm-7pm, also at BooksActually. 125A Telok Ayer Street.

Different species of Polaroids (notorious for creating instant milky memories) have evolved through the years. BooksActually has fashioned a Polaroid exhibition with a Linnaean2 taxonomic twist: where, classification and hierarchies within the genus of the Polaroid family (in varieties of film formats and camera models) are showcased. Photo-essays created by selected photographers – expanding on their own thesis of a chosen subject – will be photographed using the cult Polaroid medium.

One day a big wind will come and blow you all away.

Steps to flight and fancy.

Off today, so I wrote down my transport claims, cleaned my room, did some laundry and learned a few new songs. I also read up on the theory of the cyclic universe by Paul Steinhardt, which is infinitely interesting. It challenges the notion that the universe was create in a single big bang, but in fact big bangs have occured many times over and over.

In fact, in the version proposed by Neil Turok and myself, the big bang has occurred myriad times in our universe’s past, repeating at regular intervals during which galaxies, stars, planets, and life form anew. The result is a “cyclic universe” in which cycles extend far into the past and into the future—and perhaps forever.

You can find out more here.

My job has me in taxis half the time, so I’ve met my fair share of quirky characters. But none can beat the driver I rode with two days ago. This guy spoke pristine English, Queen’s English my lady. An interesting ride back to work, we talked about strange encounters with customers and drivers, how he had worked for four different ministries. He was in the psychiatric nursing field, dealt wit mental cases, had been oredered to review the medic operations after the Hotel New World collapse and more. It’s not everyday you meet someone you can talk about to others.

Just like that time we encountered the driver that told us how he had picked up a Japanese tourist at the airport who refused to put on his seatbelt and then the police pulled them over. The driver explained to them in Malay that he had told the Japanese man to put on his seatbelt thrice, but was ignored. So the police brought them all the way to the station and made the tourist wait 3 hours. With the tab running. So the guy just sat there, watching the driver smoke. Haha. Then, when he came out, the bill was about $50-60, so he refused to pay. So the officer was like, “You refuse to pay? Ok, we bring you to the Japanese Embassy.” The man was so scared that he said that he would pay, quickly climbed into the cab and strapped himself in. The cabbie dropped him at the hotel, where he asked “Mr. Driver, can I please take off my seatbelt now? I didn’t know taxi drivers had such power.” The cabbie then replied, “You want to take off your seatbelt! Pay first!” The guy paid up and scurried off.

Then, there are the cabbies that are so grouchy, make one wrong turn face sour like lemon. Spoil day only, especially if you’re taking their cab first thing in the morning.

I just finished Heroes episode 23, yes I’m slow. Like I get stuck at a certain episode and it takes me forever to move on. But I’m finally done! Wah I love that show man. For such a cheesy name, the plot is stellar and the acting/effects so real. The invisibility and time travel effects are done flawlessly, too cool. And Milo Ventimiglia/ Peter Petrelli is so hot. He can come by my house and explode anytime, heheh.

I still haven’t watched Transformers, noooooooo!

This guy has very nice random works. Presenting David Shrigley. Enjoy.

We’ve all met people who are supposedly incredibly intelligent but don’t know which way to sit on a lavatory.

Point and shout! That's right! Crowd at Rock For Wayne.

I’ve developed this annoying cough that just won’t go away. It’s really one thing after another, isn’t it?

I’ve finally found a way to pack my camera bag so that it won’t look like it’s bursting at the seams anymore! Awesome indeed. Many had commented on how the bag was too small to fit the camera body and all my lenses, but I’ve proven them wrong! Muahahah.

We played in the studio yesterday and Alan took these pictures. Oh, the fun we have at work. These were taken just for the phototutes blog, because deep inside we all are phototutes. And retarded. Well, we do look retarded. So we must be retarded. Aren’t we pretty?

We're pole dancing strippers, yo!

Liek, omg, what the eff is that shizzaz.

Bad side. Bad hair day. Bad everything day, yesterday. My camera screwed up and kept giving me an error 1, so I had to cut short a shoot and rush down the the canon centre at Harbour Front to get it sorted out. So it’ll be a good 3-5 working days before I get it back. Now I’m using a 1D-Mk II that is rather alien to me, but I’ll have it figured out in no time!

Haha, Wu Xiao Kang is getting this blog many hits. Wu Xiao Kang, Wu Xiao Kang, Wu Xiao Kang. Happy? Actually I was quiet shocked when Adeline called me for a contact that she could quote. It was the first thing in the morning so I couldn’t really absorb it. I’m just thinking. what would have happened if the expose wasn’t now but sometime later, when Wu Xiao Kang really hit it big time. It would have been absolutely like.. KABAMBAM! Absolute annihilation. But what just makes my eye twitch a little is how a dose of light claims that this scheme was to show people the suffering of schizophrenics, or show things through a schizo’s eyes. I’m just curious as to how they can claim that, as none of them are schizo? It’s like the blind leading the blind, no? Haha!

I just had myself a steaming bowl of teochew porridge with minced meat, salted vegetables and taopok. Happiness ensues. Like seriously. Haven’t eaten that in some time, and it’s quite healthy too! I think… Nothing makes me happier than a hearty meal on a sunny Singapura day. Wah, I love the heartlands like mad. I think I’ll be quite content when I move from Farrer (sad though) to live in a HDB flat. Can go to the market everyday and lepak lepak. Shiok only.
