Ms. Domestic Goddess,
I was reading the newspaper yesterday when I came across a recipe for frosted almond cupcakes. Maybe it was the fact that I hadn’t had anything to eat for lunch, or that it was raining and I was extremely bored, or maybe it’s the fact that you make cooking and baking look so fantastically idiot-proof that I decided to flex some of my baking muscles.
Please note that these muscles haven’t been flexed in a really long time, maybe the last time I worked them out was more than a year ago.
The thing is, Ms. Lawson, I truly think you are a domestic goddess, goddess of the kitchen and the non-calorie counters. HOW DO YOU MAKE IT LOOK SO DAMN EASY? All those hours spending my eye power on you somehow hasn’t amounted in any elevation of my baking skills.
Please enlighten me, please, because it seems I can’t even grind almonds without blowing the blender’s fuse. How is this possible? Am I doomed to grind everything by mortar and pestle from now on?
Nevermind that, I somehow managed to climb out of my batter-splattered hell alive and kicking enough to put the cupcakes into the oven. I even made royal icing, how swell is that!
Ms. Lawson, you really shouldn’t lie to us and tell us anyone can do it, because obviously, they can’t. So next time I spontaneously decide to bake again, someone slap me and tell me to wake up my idea. Haha, just kidding la.
In other news, Hady Mirza just won Asian Idol haha. Like just just. Cause I’m in front of the TV. So cool. Underdog siaaaa. Singapore’s handphone bills must be rocketing right now. Kwakwa.
Love is Indie Air was pretty ok. Enjoyed Allura, Giants Must Fall and Caracal. Last set was madness, we all pretty much let loose and went through a headbanging galore. Been a long time, too long.
